Moving to another country for work comes with a price tag. Buying plane tickets, shipping your belongings, making a rental deposit, stocking the pantry… The start of your life in a new place can get expensive, fast.

Lithuania has decided to help highly-educated specialists with such relocation costs and is now offering financial incentives of nearly 3,000 EUR to newcomer specialists.

Are you eligible for the payment? 

To qualify for the payment, you need to: 

• not have been a permanent resident in Lithuania for the last five years 

• have an open-ended (with no termination date) employment contract with a company based in Lithuania 

• work in a high value-adding profession (e.g., ICT, Engineering, Life Sciences)

• receive an average gross monthly salary of at least 2993 EUR (4.1 times the minimum Lithuanian monthly salary)

All eligible highly-skilled professionals – both foreign nationals and Lithuanian expats – can apply for the relocation payment after 6 months of working in Lithuania. 

Can Ukrainian citizens get the relocation incentive?

Lithuania stands firmly with Ukraine and has set up support mechanisms for Ukrainian refugees looking to find employment in Lithuania.

Ukrainian citizens can receive 2993 EUR for relocation expenses if they: 

• have an open-ended (with no termination date) employment contract with a company based in Lithuania

• receive an average gross monthly salary of at least 1752 EUR (2.4 times the minimum Lithuanian monthly salary)

Eligible Ukrainians can apply for the relocation payment after three months of working in Lithuania.
