Francis Linsangan had never heard of Lithuania. When a message inviting him to accept an exciting job opportunity in the country arrived in his LinkedIn inbox two years ago, his first instinct was that it was a scam. It wasn’t. Today, Francis is helping to build a world-class semiconductor manufacturing facility in Vilnius – at Semikona, a company whose very name refers to the industry it is helping to shape. He made that move with his wife Jane and their two children, and hasn’t looked back since. He also runs a public Facebook page encouraging fellow Filipinos to consider Lithuania.

Filipino engineer Aristotle Pangan made his intent clear when he chose Lithuania for the next chapter of his career. Now in his sixth year at the AUMOVIO Kaunas facility (formerly known as Continental Automotive), he has built a home for his family and volunteers at Kaunas University of Technology to inspire the next generation of engineers.

From the warm climes of Southern India to Lithuania’s bustling business scene, Arunn’s journey is a masterclass in ambition. Starting as a student, he quickly climbed the ranks from an AML Associate to a Senior Officer. He is currently thriving in his role as a Business Risk and Controls Officer, looking ahead to further advancements in his career.

İrem came to Lithuania as a scholarship student at Vilnius Tech, and quickly made her mark. She landed her first tech role while still studying, and now works as a Security Engineer at Rocket Software, leading penetration testing and managing cybersecurity risks. But she didn’t stop there. İrem also launched her own company and started building a name for herself as an artist. Tech-savvy, creative, and always pushing forward, she’s proof that Lithuania is a great place to turn ambition into action.

Having arrived as a student by accident and fallen in love with Lithuania, Laura decided she needed to return. And she did, finding a job without much fuss with IoT solution provider Teltonika. Now enjoying a dynamic sales position at Teltonika’s subsidiary Telematics, she is not only enjoying Lithuania’s great work-life balance but also getting the opportunity to explore more of her native country Italy.   

After working in marketing for over a decade, travelling around the world, and running her own restaurant, Madu Melo is now the Country Manager for Brazil at the tech unicorn NordVPN in Vilnius. We sat down with Madu to discuss her move to Lithuania, the potential she sees here, and how delicious food helps one make friends. 

Since arriving in Lithuania four years ago from his native Slovenia, Tine has been on a fast learning and career curve. He’s not only enjoyed four promotions, taking him from Software Developer to Technology Strategist at Companial, a Vilnius-based Microsoft Dynamics development center. He’s also made a name for himself as a regular and popular speaker on the conference circuit – not bad going for a man who says he’s an introvert at heart.

From Psychology in Indonesia to the hotel industry in Bali and a travel tech startup in Bangkok, Misha’s career journey led her to Lithuania. Meeting her Lithuanian partner in 2017 inspired her move in 2019, where she’s now thriving as a Senior Customer Success Manager at Whatagraph in Lithuania’s vibrant startup scene.

Having worked in her home country of Sri Lanka within the financial sector, Bhashini was looking to develop her career by studying and working abroad. She decided on Lithuania, and with studies at the local business school ISM now under her belt, she’s settling into an exciting role at Adform, a globally renowned DSP provider with a large presence in Vilnius.

Coming to Lithuania for the first time as an exchange student, Ricardo now works at Deloitte as a Senior Transfer Pricing Consultant. Like a true busy bee, he is also pursuing a PhD and teaching Law on the side. With Ricardo, we discussed relocating to Lithuania twice, enjoying a niche hobby, and working at a Big 4 company.

From Ashdod, a coastal city in the South of Israel. Gleb got his start in IT while serving mandatory military service. Now a DevOps Infrastructure Expert at German IT solution provider GOD’s Kaunas office, Gleb is enjoying not only a challenging job in an international company, but a great work-life balance that gives him more time to be with his young son.

Starting out as a French teacher in her home country of Costa Rica, Gail decided to reskill and pursue her interest in IT.  After commencing her IT career at Hewlett Packard, she took a position in Western Union, where she rose up the ranks. Beginning as an AML Compliance Specialist responsible for onboarding at Western Union in Costa Rica, she is now AML Compliance Officer at the company’s European headquarters in Vilnius.
